Belize - May 2013
Belize is a nation on the eastern coast of Central America, with Caribbean Sea shorelines to the east and dense jungle to the west. Offshore, the massive Belize Barrier Reef, dotted with hundreds of low-lying islands called cayes, hosts rich marine life. Belize’s jungle areas are home to Mayan ruins like Caracol, renowned for its towering pyramid; lagoon-side Lamanai; and Altun Ha, just outside Belize City.

My first ever real vacation. Was supposed to go down to Belize with a good friend of mine, but at last minute she backed out. So I went solo. Was nervous being out of country for my first time. Stayed at Mahogany Bay by Hilton on Ambergris Caye.
Decided to try SCUBA diving and went with Tuff E Nuff tours. Got PADI Open Water certified and fell in love with it. Burned the crap out of my back because I wasn't wearing a wet suit...I'm a big guy and the water was warm...but didn't take in consideration the sun and being in the Caribbean. Lesson learned for future dives!
If you have never had a Caribbean Rum Punch, I suggest going to Belize. While I'm come close to replicating it here in the states, no bar...including myself...have been able to get that authentic taste I had down there.
Belize is on my list to return and I cannot wait to bring friends with me!
